Mission Statement

Custer County Public Health shall protect, promote,
and
enhance the health and well-being of all people
in Custer County and surrounding areas.

Objectives

  • Review and make recommendations for updating public health preparedness plans
  • Respond to outbreaks as a coordinated response team
  • Develop and convey singular messages for health related information to the community
  • Coordinate mass treatment or mass prophylaxis clinics during emergencies
  • Develop coordinated prevention campaigns

Strategic Goals

  • Assist the community in adopting healthy behaviors and to avoid preventable health and disease related problems.
  • Inform, educate and empower citizens on health related issues.
  • Utilize community partnerships to identify and solve health issues.
  • Ensure enforcement of laws and regulations that protect health and ensure safety.
  • Optimize the use of technology.

Essential Services

  • Monitor the health status of the population and the environment, and identify community health problems.
  • Prevent and control the spread of communicable disease.
  • Promote positive health behaviors and environmental practices.
  • Mobilize community partnerships to solve identified health problems.
  • Enforce laws and regulations that protect the health of the public and the environment.
  • Counsel and support high-risk children, youth, and families.
  • Assure access and provide linkages to personal health services.
  • Develop policies that support and protect the health of the community and the environment.
